Multimedia Analysis of Pink Floyd's The Wall (Appendix)

At the University of Rochester, I did an informal analysis and transcription of Radiohead's "How to Disappear Completely" off of Kid A (at the impetus of Dr. Daniel Harrison). It was never published and is rough around the edges but has good content.

Also at the U of R, I did an independent study on self-similarity in music. My advisors were Dr. Joseph Eberly (Physics) and Dr. David Headlam (Music Theory). Here's the paper and the example etudes: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7.

The Fully Entangled Fraction as an Inclusive Measure of Entanglement Applications (Physics Letters A, 300, pages 573-580, 2002) – This is the culmination of my summer research at Los Alamos National Labs with Dr. Daniel James. In it, we investigate a number of measurements of entanglement, a fundamental property of quantum objects. We then propose a new measure inspired by experimental considerations, which can hopefully be used in practice (as opposed to previous measures, which might be infeasible to implement). Entanglement is a central problem of quantum computation.

Energy Eigenstates of a Gaussian in an Infinite Square Well (Journal of Undergraduate Research in Physics, 18, pages 45-50, Spring 2000) – This paper is the product of my independent study with Dr. Joseph Eberly in our physics department. It is a theoretical examination of the probability distribution of a Gaussian wavepacket confined in the standard infinite square well. The topic was inspired by recent results in quantum optics and Bose-Einstein Condensates.

Rooted Lower Subtractive Orders, Weak Cocycles and Algebras (Internally published) – Describing my summer 2002 work at the Indiana University Mathematics REU, with Dr. Darrell Haile and Dr. Carolyn Yackel. The topic combined areas of group theory, ring theory, cohomology, and graph theory.
